Building Efficiency in HEDIS Data Collection and Reporting

Collecting provider data in order to report on quality measures is a significant task for health plans. HEDIS (the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) reporting requires health plans to report on more than 90 measures across 6 domains of care. Given HEDIS enables consumers, employers and other health plan customers to make an apples-to-apples comparison of health plans, getting these measures right is critical and doing so efficiently can be challenging.

To help health plans address this challenge, Veradigm worked with Xtelligent Healthcare Media to produce an article “How to be more efficient in HEDIS reporting.” In it, you will find information on HEDIS and tips on how health plans can be more effective in data collection and reporting.

The chart audit challenge

One significant challenge for HEDIS reporting is the need to collect chart information from providers. More than 100 million medical record requests are made to HCPs annually, and 90% of those are exchanged via manual methods such as traditional paper or analog fax.1 These manual methods of chart retrieval are time consuming and inefficient for both health plans and providers.

Veradigm can help you be more efficient in HEDIS reporting

Veradigm eChart Courier increases efficiency and streamlines data collection through automating the chart retrieval process. Once the provider opts-into the program, eChart Courier pulls data from the provider’s EHR cloud and delivers it to health plans in a secure, encrypted format to preserve HIPAA security. It was designed by Veradigm to replace manual in-office chart audits and is easy to use for both the health plan and the provider.

Veradigm is committed to improving the value, efficiency, and quality of healthcare delivery through providing actionable insights and innovative tools to health plans and other partners, such as eChart Courier.
